A splendid song, though apparently completely hoaxed. Enjoy anyway if only for the catchy punning.
Along with this, I must recommend a book I found recently at a library sale: Bonnie Prince Charlie, a biography, by Susan Maclean Kybett. The history of the Pretender’s line and the tangle of Bourbon politics, English politics, politicians, and bourbon, in the middle of the 18th century is quite a read. Charlie comes off looking both more of a man, and less of a man, than the myths his later adherents built around him.
